Tall Plant, Seacliff Beach, Santa Cruz County
I made this photograph on April 5, 2013 at Seacliff Beach in Santa Cruz County. This plant was at the base of the cliff across from the beach. I could not find out what kind of plant it is, but it was around 7 feet tall. If you know what it is please let me know.
For this image I used 2 Olympus E-PL1 digital cameras mounted next to each other on a panoramic device I constructed which allows the cameras to rotate up or down around what is called the entrance pupil of the lens. This enabled me to tilt the cameras slightly downward to make one part of the image, then slightly upward to make the other part of the image. I blended the two parts of the image together using a computer program called Panorama Tools Graphic User Interface (PTGUI for short). The cameras had been converted to infra-red sensitivity by LifePixel. In infra-red photography green foliage becomes very light toned. The exposures were 1/60 second at f/8 (ISO 100). The lens was adjusted to the 35mm equivalent of 42mm. You can see the image in the format you prefer by clicking on one of the following: parallel, cross-eyed, or anaglyph (red/cyan glasses).
