Berry Creek Fall, Big Basin State Park, Santa Cruz County
I
made this photograph on April 8, 2012 at Big Basin Redwoods State Park
in Santa Cruz County. Big Basin is California's first state park,
established in 1902. It covers more than 18,000 acres and has many miles
of hiking trails. There are a series of spectacular waterfalls along
Berry Creek, including the Golden Cascades, Silver Falls, and Berry
Creek Falls. It is quite a hike to get there, around 12 miles round
trip, with a lot of up and down.
For this image I used 2 Sigma DP1 digital cameras mounted vertically on tripods about 4 feet apart. There is a viewing platform which gives an excellent vantage point for this photograph. The exposures were 15 seconds at f/5.6 (ISO 50)with neutral density filters over the lenses which increased the length of the exposure by 6 stops.
